A mother has shared the heart-wrenching pain of losing her “perfect” and “beautiful” child and discloses a final plea that may have saved her daughter’s life.
Devon Bean recounts the tragic loss of her 15-year-old daughter, Cherish, and her teenage partner, Ethan, at a holiday park near Bridlington last month. The pair were part of a group of 24, including seven adults and 17 children, on a family break during half term. Suspicions arise that carbon monoxide poisoning might be the cause of their untimely deaths.
Opening up about the events leading to the tragedy, Devon reveals that the night before Cherish and Ethan passed away in the holiday lodge known as the ‘man cave,’ nine youngsters had slept there together.
Following the incident, four individuals have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and released on bail pending further investigations. Devon expressed her anguish on Facebook, stating, “Words cannot describe the pain. Our beautiful Cherish and Ethan are irreplaceable souls. If love could have saved them, they would have lived forever.”
The grieving mother has shared her last conversation with her daughter and the regretful request she made in hindsight. Devon recalls urging Cherish to stay with her the night before the tragedy, but Cherish opted to sleep in the ‘man cave’ cabin where the unfortunate events unfolded.
Reflecting on the missed opportunity to prevent the tragedy, Devon laments, “I just wish I could have convinced her – now that I know.” She expresses deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing the shattered state of their once close-knit family.
Describing the weekend that turned tragic, Devon reminisces about the plans for relaxation and enjoyment before the fateful incident. She describes Cherish as the light of their lives and highlights the special bond they shared.
Devon also reveals the additional sorrow of losing her own mother within a month of Cherish’s passing. She recounts the deep connection between Cherish and Ethan, labeling them as childhood sweethearts with a shared vision for their future.
The devastated mother emphasizes the profound impact of the loss on their family unit and the enduring pain of their absence. Devon concludes by expressing hope for a reunion in the afterlife with the two cherished souls they tragically lost.
