“Mother’s Distress: Daughter Hospitalized with Meningitis Seizure”

A mother in Kent has expressed her distress over her daughter’s hospitalization due to a seizure triggered by meningitis. Khali Goodwin received voicemails from the hospital informing her that her 21-year-old daughter, Keeleigh, had been found unconscious at their shared accommodation in Canterbury.

The incident is linked to a meningitis outbreak in the area, resulting in fatalities and individuals being placed in induced comas. Khali suspects her daughter contracted meningitis from sharing a vape.

Keeleigh reported severe symptoms to her mother before experiencing a seizure. Despite believing her daughter had received all necessary vaccinations, Khali was shocked by the sudden turn of events. She described the past days as extremely difficult, witnessing her daughter’s condition.

Following a visit to the hospital, Khali was deeply troubled by Keeleigh’s state and the impact it had on her. Keeleigh, a full-time McDonald’s employee, had visited Club Chemistry in Canterbury shortly before falling ill, prompting the nightclub’s closure as a precaution.

Khali emphasized the importance of seeking medical help upon experiencing symptoms, as Keeleigh’s condition started with a fever and escalated quickly. She expressed gratitude towards Keeleigh’s housemate for acting swiftly in getting her medical attention.

The outbreak has claimed two lives, including a university student and a high school student, with several others hospitalized. Authorities are providing support and guidance to those affected and encouraging vigilance in recognizing meningitis symptoms.

Efforts to contain the outbreak include distributing antibiotics to close contacts of cases and issuing advice to the broader community. The UK Health Security Agency has reported numerous cases in the Canterbury area and is actively working with local institutions to address the situation.
