“Mother’s Day Marks 3rd Year of Son’s Mysterious Disappearance”

Jack O’Sullivan, a 22-year-old from Bristol, went missing on March 2, 2024. His mother, Catherine O’Sullivan, 54, who works as a school matron and lives in Bristol with her husband Alan, 60, a teacher, shared her heartbreak over the loss of her son. She mentioned that Mother’s Day is particularly difficult for her as it marks the third year without Jack, who vanished in 2024. Jack had been living at home with his family while pursuing a law conversion course and had been doing well in his studies.

On the night of his disappearance, Jack had gone out to a party with some new friends from his course. Despite a text message saying he would be late, he never returned home. His family grew concerned when they found his room empty and his whereabouts unknown. Efforts to locate him, including checking the Find My iPhone app and contacting the police, proved fruitless.

CCTV footage was inconclusive, with initial theories suggesting Jack might have fallen into the river. However, no evidence supporting this theory was found during searches of the area. Two years on, Catherine remains determined to find her son, expressing the agony of not knowing his fate. She emphasized the need for continued awareness and support in the search for missing individuals.

The Mirror highlighted the prevalence of missing persons cases in the UK, with over 170,000 people reported missing annually, including approximately 75,000 children. The Missed campaign, in collaboration with Missing People Charity, aims to raise awareness and advocate for improved support for missing individuals and their families. The campaign urges for a comprehensive strategy involving law enforcement, healthcare, and social services to address the issue effectively.

As part of the campaign, The Mirror calls for the implementation of a new missing persons strategy, prevention measures for at-risk individuals, and support services for those who return after being missing. The initiative seeks to bring attention to all missing persons, regardless of background or circumstances, recognizing the enduring pain experienced by their loved ones.
