Neighbors were shocked to learn that a mother of ten had kept a vulnerable individual as a slave for 25 years without their knowledge. Amanda Wixon, known as “The Witch,” was recently sentenced to 13 years in prison for subjecting her victim, who had been abused since the age of 14, to severe mistreatment in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
Wixon, aged 56, took in the victim in 1996 due to her parents’ issues. Over the years, she forced the victim, identified only as K, to care for her children, pets, and maintain the household. Neighbors, unaware of the ongoing abuse, expressed relief upon hearing about Wixon’s imprisonment.
One neighbor expressed hope that the victim would eventually find closure and justice. Victim K, now in her mid-40s, shared how she endured fear and neglect, sleeping on a dirty mattress and being deprived of basic necessities. The abuse included physical assaults such as being struck with a broom handle and having her head forced into a toilet.
The victim’s ordeal finally ended in March 2021 when she managed to call for help using a hidden phone. Wixon was apprehended by police, and she was subsequently found guilty of multiple charges including false imprisonment and assault causing bodily harm. The judge, Ian Lawrie KC, emphasized the severity of Wixon’s actions, stating that she had cruelly held the victim captive for two decades and caused enduring trauma.
The judge sentenced Wixon to a significant prison term, highlighting the persistent and serious nature of her offenses over the years.
