Shoppers at Morrisons can now enjoy a 10% discount on their weekly shopping every Friday until April 24 by spending £40 or more. This promotion, in partnership with Blue Light Card, is available to all members of the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, teaching community, and armed forces. To access the discount, members simply need to activate the code on their Blue Light Card app.
With the ongoing cost of living crisis causing grocery prices to rise, this initiative aims to provide relief to customers. A typical weekly shop at Morrisons costs around £187.65, meaning Blue Light cardholders could save approximately £18.77 per visit, totaling up to £131.39 by the end of the promotion.
Joe Mathison, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Blue Light Card, expressed gratitude towards key workers and emphasized the importance of such savings during challenging times. Morrisons, established in 1899, has expanded significantly over the years, with recent developments including a partnership with Motor Fuel Group to incentivize electric vehicle owners with bonus Morrisons More points for charging their EVs at Morrisons car parks.
The collaboration aims to enhance the loyalty program’s benefits for customers while promoting sustainable transportation options. Morrisons currently operates 497 supermarkets and over 1,700 convenience and franchise outlets, with plans for further investments in upgrading forecourts and expanding EV charging infrastructure. Matt McLellan, Group Customer, Marketing and Data Director at Morrisons, highlighted the importance of evolving loyalty offerings to meet customers’ changing needs, especially as more drivers transition to electric vehicles. The partnership with MFG aims to provide added value to customers by rewarding them with Morrisons More Points for both charging their EVs and shopping at Morrisons.
