Police are searching for a suspect following a targeted shooting incident involving a woman this morning. Merseyside Police confirmed that armed officers responded to a report of a woman in her twenties being shot in the legs at Lime Grove, located off Lodge Lane in Toxteth at approximately 12:55 am today.
The victim has been transported to a hospital for evaluation. Law enforcement officials are conducting initial investigations in the area, which include door-to-door inquiries, forensic examinations, and reviewing CCTV footage, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Detective Inspector Ainsley McAlice stated, “We are in the crucial early stages of our inquiry, aiming to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and identify the individual responsible. We acknowledge the community’s concerns regarding such incidents and currently believe this was a deliberate attack by an individual known to the victim.”
McAlice urged anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity near Lodge Lane or Sefton Park to come forward urgently. He emphasized the importance of providing any CCTV footage or relevant information as potential crucial evidence.
