A man who instigated the closure of a hospital by unleashing tear gas has been captured on CCTV footage as he received a jail sentence of over three years. The disturbing incident occurred at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary around 5:30 pm on October 10, 2025, prompting emergency services to respond to reports of a disturbance and the assault of two individuals.
Piotr Huczynski, aged 37, admitted to various charges, including assault and the reckless use of a firearm by dispersing a corrosive substance, at the city’s sheriff court in January. Following his guilty plea, he was sentenced to 44 months in prison and disqualified from driving for more than six years. Surveillance footage of the event has now been made public, capturing the harrowing attack in real-time.
In the CCTV recording, Huczynski can be seen deploying CS spray on a medic and a security guard in the A&E section of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary due to his frustration with extended waiting periods. This event led to the hospital’s evacuation and temporary closure for three hours. Huczynski was visibly agitated as he was escorted out of the emergency unit, gesticulating wildly.
As three staff members blocked the entrance, Huczynski brandished CS spray at them before fleeing the scene. Despite being banned from driving until 2034, he escaped in a vehicle. Following the court’s ruling, Inspector Katy Townhill commented, “This was a reckless incident that caused harm to two individuals. Huczynski displayed a complete disregard for the well-being of others within the hospital, and he will face the consequences of his actions.”
Inspector Townhill expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation during the incident and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards violence in healthcare settings. Authorities are committed to supporting partners and ensuring that those responsible for such offenses are held accountable.
