Man in Custody After Grim Discovery in Australia

Law enforcement took a man in his thirties into custody following the discovery of a deceased man and a severely injured woman at a residence in Australia.

On the morning of Saturday, March 14, at approximately 8:10 am, police were alerted to a possible welfare issue at a property on Gisborne Street in Wellington, situated in the Central Western Slopes region of the state. Upon reaching the rural location, police found the body of a man, believed to be around 70 years old, and an injured woman, also believed to be in her 70s.

Paramedics attended to the unidentified woman at the scene before transporting her by air ambulance to a medical facility in critical condition. Simultaneously, law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the vicinity, leading to the apprehension of a man inside a nearby fast-food establishment.

The official statement from the New South Wales (NSW) police stated: “An investigation is ongoing following the discovery of a deceased man and a critically injured woman inside a residence in the western part of the state today. Around 8:10 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, emergency services responded to a property on Gisborne Street, Wellington, following reports of a welfare concern.

“Officers from the Orana Mid-Western Police District arrived at the scene and located the body of a man, believed to be in his 70s, along with a seriously injured woman inside the residence. The woman, also believed to be in her 70s, received medical attention from NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to a medical facility in critical condition.

“A crime scene was established, and detectives from Strike Force Fedonia launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with support from the State Crime Commands Homicide Squad.

“Following an extensive search of the area, a 30-year-old man was apprehended at a fast-food establishment on Arthur Street. He was transported to the Wellington Police Station but has been released pending further investigations.”
