A man aged 52 was found deceased in the sea near a popular beach after leaving notes for his family. Matthew Whale, a car sales manager from Killay, Swansea, was discovered in the water at one of Wales’ well-visited beaches.
Rescue teams located Mr. Whale on March 7th, deceased in the water with minor injuries, a day after his family reported him missing. Swansea Coroners’ Court was informed that he had left multiple notes for his family at home, prompting an immediate alert to South Wales Police and initiating an extensive search involving Mountain Rescue and HM Coastguard.
His car was found in the Rhossili car park, and CCTV footage showed him heading towards Worms Head before volunteers located him in the sea. Despite minor injuries, no significant signs of trauma were immediately evident. Mr. Whale’s body was taken to the hospital, and authorities confirmed no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
