A 41-year-old man is facing potential imprisonment of more than six years for allegedly filming two women in a restroom at Palma de Mallorca Airport. The Spaniard is accused of targeting the women, one of whom was a 17-year-old British tourist, by capturing images of them without their consent.
According to court documents, the man accessed the women’s restroom and used a mobile device to film the minor while she was changing her underwear in a nearby cubicle. The British tourist has been called to testify at the upcoming trial, although a date has not been scheduled yet.
Another woman was also reportedly filmed by the same man, who was said to be employed by a private hire transfer company. He allegedly concealed a mobile device behind a waste bin in the airport’s arrivals area to record her using the restroom. Authorities have not found any evidence indicating that the suspect shared these recorded images with others.
The public prosecutors are seeking a two-year, six-month prison term for violating the older woman’s privacy on July 2, 2023. Regarding the incident involving the British minor on July 7, 2024, they are pursuing a four-year jail sentence if the accused is found guilty. Additionally, the man may face a compensation claim of around £5,000.
The exact circumstances of his arrest remain unclear, but he was released on bail after spending a night in police custody as the investigation proceeded. A trial date has not been finalized yet.
