“Jesy Nelson’s Twins Battle SMA1 with Leg Splints”

Jesy Nelson has shared a recent update on her twin daughters’ ongoing health struggles. The ex-Little Mix member, aged 34, confirmed that her baby girls have been provided with leg splints. The twins, born in May 2025, are battling Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1), a genetic neuromuscular disorder that impairs muscle function by affecting spinal cord motor nerve cells.

The diagnosis was made in January, with SMA1 being the most prevalent and severe form of the condition. Unfortunately, individuals with this type typically have a life expectancy of less than two years without medical intervention.

Jesy has been transparent about her children’s health challenges on social media to keep her followers informed. In her latest Instagram post, she expressed her sadness following the recent update, emphasizing the difficulties her daughters are enduring.

In a heartfelt message to her followers, Jesy shared, “Today, I had to pick up the girls’ splints because their feet need correction. It was a poignant moment for me.” Displaying the splints, she showcased the adorable butterfly designs on Ocean’s pair.

Despite the emotional journey, Jesy allowed cameras to document her pregnancy before giving birth. Despite the distressing diagnosis, she remains committed to continuing the filming journey as it progresses.

In a recent Q&A session, Jesy remarked, “We decided to keep filming after the girls’ diagnosis. Despite the challenges, we felt there was a purpose in sharing our story.” She also highlighted her advocacy efforts to include SMA screening in routine tests while caring for her beloved daughters.

Reflecting on the filming process, Jesy expressed her gratitude for the support in raising awareness about her experiences, believing that the program will drive positive change.
