“Jessie Buckley Poised to Make Oscars History”

Jessie Buckley, an Oscar nominee, narrowly missed the chance to portray Nancy in the theater adaptation of Oliver in 2008. However, she has since moved past that disappointment and is now poised to make history by becoming the first Irish actress to win in her category at the Oscars.

At 36 years old, the accomplished star has already clinched a Bafta, a Golden Globe, and a Critics Choice Award for her role as Agnes, also known as Anne, the wife of William Shakespeare in a movie adaptation.

Her latest project, “Hamnet,” portrays the struggles faced by the couple after the loss of their son. Jessie has expressed that the emotional depth required for the acclaimed film resonated with her own desire to start a family.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, she shared how portraying a character experiencing the grief of losing a child tapped into a profound personal need. Jessie got married in 2023 and welcomed her first child the following year.

Earlier this year, the celebrated actress sparked a bit of controversy by stating her dislike for cats during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon, clarifying that it was a misconception.

Having spent five years at an all-girls convent school, Jessie ventured into the entertainment industry by auditioning for the BBC talent show “I’d Do Anything” at 17.

Although she reached the final but didn’t secure the role, Jessie’s dedication to acting led her to study drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, earning a BA in 2013.

Her acting career took off with a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe in “The Tempest” in 2013, followed by a role alongside Jude Law in “Henry V.”

Transitioning to television, she appeared in “War and Peace” in 2016 as Marya Bolkonskaya, making her film debut a year later in the psychological thriller “Beast” with Johnny Flynn.

Subsequently, she starred in various films, such as “Wild Rose” in 2018, where she portrayed a single mother with a criminal past striving to become a country singer, garnering a Bafta for Best Actress.
