Iran Missiles Target Gulf Countries; Qatar and Saudi Arabia Hit

Recent missile attacks originating from Iran have targeted various locations in Gulf countries.

Qatar has strongly criticized the aggressive missile strike by Iran on its Ras Laffan gas facility, resulting in significant damage as confirmed by the state energy company. Additionally, explosions have been witnessed at multiple sites in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, causing injuries to four individuals due to debris from intercepted missiles.

These assaults occurred shortly after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning of targeting oil and gas facilities in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE in response to Israeli strikes on the South Pars gas field. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, condemned the Israeli attack as “reckless and irresponsible.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, there are reports stating that President Trump prefers no further strikes on Iranian energy sites following Israel’s action on the South Pars gas field. The US officials cited in the report mentioned that Trump supported the Israeli strikes to send a message to Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, indicating a potential willingness for additional measures if Iran interferes with the crucial oil route.

Tragically, four Palestinian women lost their lives due to falling debris in the occupied West Bank shortly after another Iranian missile barrage as reported by the Palestinian Red Crescent. Moreover, six individuals sustained injuries in the Beit Awa area close to Hebron, where debris struck a bustling beauty salon popular before Eid.

The defence ministry of Saudi Arabia disclosed that four people in Riyadh were injured by shrapnel from a ballistic missile intercepted over the capital. Simultaneously, reports indicated multiple explosions in the Al Qusais Industrial Area.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian cautioned that the Israeli assault on Iran’s South Pars gas field could lead to uncontrollable repercussions extending globally. His remarks came prior to Iranian missile strikes on Ras Laffan in Qatar.

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior reassured the public via social media that the fire at Ras Laffan has been contained without any reported injuries. Al Jazeera reported that a follow-up message to residents indicated the elimination of the security threat and a return to normalcy.

Following an alert sent to residents’ mobile phones regarding an elevated security threat in the region, a video emerged showing flames and smoke emanating from Ras Laffan post the Iranian missile attack.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC previously warned of imminent strikes on major oil and gas facilities in Gulf countries, advising civilians and workers to evacuate critical energy zones.

Qatar strongly condemned the missile attacks on Ras Laffan Industrial City, labeling them as a direct threat to national security and regional stability. The country’s foreign ministry expressed concerns via social media about Iran’s escalating actions pulling the region towards conflict.

Moreover, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior issued a mobile alert urging residents to stay indoors amidst heightened security concerns. QatarEnergy, the state-owned petroleum company, confirmed the missile strikes on Ras Laffan, leading to extensive damage and immediate deployment of emergency response teams.

Notably, the South Pars/North Dome field, the world’s largest natural gas reservoir shared between Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf, became a focal point amid rising tensions.
