A passenger, identified as Anthony Morrison-Taylor, age 44, was fined following an incident on an easyJet flight from Bristol to Newcastle in February 2024. Morrison-Taylor, who was deemed intoxicated by the cabin crew, became verbally abusive when informed he would not be served more alcohol. He used profane language towards the flight attendants despite repeated refusals.
The situation escalated when Morrison-Taylor defiantly stated he would obtain alcohol regardless and proceeded to insult the staff. The flight attendant alerted authorities through air traffic control, resulting in Morrison-Taylor’s arrest upon landing at Newcastle Airport. The disruptive behavior occurred during turbulent flight conditions.
In a statement, the flight attendant expressed concern over the increasing frequency of such incidents and emphasized the importance of ensuring passenger safety. Morrison-Taylor, residing in Newbottle Village, Sunderland, admitted to a public order offense in September. The judge delayed sentencing for six months contingent on his avoidance of any alcohol-related offenses.
Having abided by the condition, Morrison-Taylor was fined £500. Additionally, he was directed to pay £750 in compensation to the offended flight attendant and another £750 for prosecution costs. The judge admonished Morrison-Taylor for his misconduct, highlighting the need for accountability despite his lack of prior criminal records and expressing hopes for his future compliance with the law.
