Inquiry Into Ricky Hatton’s Passing Initiated

An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the passing of boxing icon Ricky Hatton is scheduled for today.

The former world champion was found at his residence in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on September 14 last year. He was 46 years old. Paul Speak, his longtime manager and friend, discovered him unresponsive at the property.

During a previous session, it was mentioned that Hatton had been last seen alive by family members on September 12 and had seemed healthy. He did not appear at a planned event the following day, and on the morning of September 14, Mr. Speak visited the house to pick him up for a trip to Manchester Airport.

The late 46-year-old was a devoted Manchester City enthusiast with strong ties to football beyond just the Etihad Stadium. Hatton collaborated with former England star Gascoigne on a speaking tour, where the two athletes connected over their similar personalities.

Gascoigne expressed sorrow over Hatton’s passing, stating, “I did a couple of venues with him – what a shame, a great guy, a great character. He was like myself – he gave his time up for anybody and he’d give his last penny away. It was heartbreaking.”

Ricky Hatton, the iconic boxer, was laid to rest on October 10.

In a private ceremony at Manchester Cathedral, Ricky’s loved ones gathered to honor his life in his cherished city.

Hatton was awarded the MBE for his contributions to sports in the 2007 New Year Honours.

His manager and close friend, Paul Speak, discovered the former champion unresponsive at his residence in Gee Cross, Hyde, on September 14, as they were set to head to Manchester Airport for a flight to Dubai.

A preliminary cause of death was disclosed during a pre-inquest hearing, where basic details about the 46-year-old’s demise were shared. Hatton was last seen by his family on September 12, appearing in good health, as per Stockport Coroner’s Court. On the morning of Sunday, September 14, his manager Paul Speak arrived at his home in Hyde, Tameside, to accompany him to Manchester Airport for a flight to Dubai, only to find Hatton unresponsive.
