“Horrific Hotel Attack: Man Assaults Woman with Screwdriver”

A hotel owner was shocked to witness a gruesome incident where a man was found attacking a woman’s face, comparing the scene to something out of a horror movie. The incident took place at a halfway house in November 2014, resulting in the deaths of Matthew Williams, 34, and Cerys Yemm, 22. The hotel proprietor, Mandy Miles, described the harrowing event in a 999 call, detailing how Williams had assaulted the woman with a screwdriver.

During the distressing call, Mandy expressed the horror she witnessed, stating that Williams was “eating” the woman’s face. She was adamant about the brutality of the situation, urging others not to enter the room where the gruesome act was taking place. The inquest revealed the chilling details of the scene, as Mandy unlocked the door to find Yemm being brutally attacked by Williams.

Yemm and Williams had met earlier that evening in a nearby town before heading to the hotel. Williams, a repeat offender with a history of criminal activities, had lured Yemm back to his room where the tragic incident occurred. The 999 call, along with CCTV footage, provided a harrowing account of the events leading up to the gruesome discovery at the hotel.

Despite initial perceptions, forensic evidence later disproved the notion that Williams was eating the victim. However, the shocking nature of the incident left a lasting impact on those involved. The inquest shed light on Williams’ troubled past, revealing his struggles with mental health issues and substance abuse leading up to the tragic events.

Following the disturbing incident, Williams was arrested by police and later died after being tasered during his apprehension. The inquest highlighted the lack of proper mental health support for Williams post-release from prison, underscoring the systemic failures that contributed to the tragic outcome for both Yemm and Williams.
