“Homeless Man Grooms, Assaults Vulnerable Girl in Tent”

A man without a home sexually assaulted a young girl in a tent after deceiving her with offers of assistance when she seemed distressed in a town center. Mohsen Farjam, who was residing in a tent near Stockport, approached the 15-year-old victim, who was alone and vulnerable due to a neurodevelopmental condition. Farjam, aged 43, persuaded the victim to accompany him for food and device charging under the guise of being homeless, as revealed during the court proceedings at Manchester Crown Court. Despite feigning sympathy and support, Farjam was actually grooming the victim.

Subsequently, Farjam provided the underage victim with vodka at his tent and proceeded to sexually assault and rape her, despite her visible nervousness. Following the assault, the victim managed to escape the tent and confided in a family member who alerted the authorities. Farjam was apprehended shortly after but refuted the accusations, claiming he took the victim back to the tent for a massage as he perceived her vulnerable state.

Farjam, who had no permanent residence, was convicted of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of sexual assault by penetration. On March 5, he was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in prison and mandated to register as a sex offender for life. Detective Sergeant Rob Griffiths of GMP’s Stockport Complex safeguarding team commended the victim for her bravery throughout the legal proceedings and emphasized the necessity of ongoing professional support for her recovery.

DS Griffiths condemned Farjam for exploiting the victim’s vulnerabilities for his own gratification, highlighting the deception he employed under the guise of aiding a distressed child. The detective expressed relief at Farjam’s incarceration, emphasizing justice for the victim and the community.
