“Groom Falls into Coma at Bachelor Party Abroad”

A family is reeling after a soon-to-be groom fell into a coma during his bachelor party overseas. Adam Maxwell was enjoying his pre-wedding festivities in Bucharest, Romania, when he suddenly became unwell and was rushed to a hospital. Initially feeling unwell on Sunday morning after arriving on Friday, Adam’s speech became slurred, and he started vomiting before his condition deteriorated.

Upon being taken to the hospital, doctors diagnosed Adam with type 1 diabetes, a condition he was unaware of. Further scans showed a lack of insulin in his body and dangerously high blood sugar levels, leading to concerns of pancreas and kidney issues. Subsequently, Adam was moved to a high dependency ward where he received treatment before experiencing a cardiac arrest, which required medical intervention to revive him.

He was then transferred to another hospital’s critical care unit, where he was placed in a medically induced coma. Adam, 35, who hails from Manchester but lives in Coventry with his fiancée, remains on a ventilator for breathing support. He had plans to return to Manchester after his wedding in September, amidst dealing with cerebral palsy.

Currently, Adam is undergoing treatment for pneumonia and awaiting brain scans. His family, along with his brother Scott, who is by his side in Romania, are deeply concerned about his condition. To assist Scott and cover expenses, the family has launched a fundraising campaign to fly relatives to Romania.

Laura, Scott’s fiancée, expressed their shock and emotional turmoil, emphasizing the uncertainty surrounding Adam’s situation. She highlighted the importance of supporting him during this challenging time and ensuring he is not alone in a foreign country. Those willing to contribute can visit the GoFundMe page set up by the family to assist in bringing Adam back home.
