The foreign ministers of G7 countries have declared their willingness to implement necessary actions to bolster the global energy supply.
In an official statement, they strongly denounced the aggressive assaults by the Iranian government on civilians and civilian infrastructure, particularly energy facilities, in various nations such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Iraq, in accordance with UNSC Resolution 2817.
The ministers emphasized that Iran’s unwarranted actions against these countries pose a significant threat to regional and global security. They called for the immediate and unconditional halt to all attacks instigated by the Iranian government.
Furthermore, the joint declaration stressed the crucial need to safeguard maritime pathways, ensure navigation safety, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz and other critical water passages, protect supply chains, and maintain the stability of energy markets.
Concluding the statement, they expressed readiness to take essential measures to support global energy supply, such as the stockpile release initiative endorsed by members of the International Energy Agency on March 11.
President Donald Trump of the United States issued a stern warning through social media, setting a two-day ultimatum for Iran to cease its attacks. Trump posted on his Truth Social account, stating, “If Iran fails to completely reopen the Strait of Hormuz without threats within 48 hours from now, the United States will target and destroy their power plants, starting with the largest one!”
