A defector from North Korea who once served as a bodyguard for Kim Jong-un has issued a cautionary message urging the dictator to change his ways following reports of the US and Israel’s actions against Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. North Korea, known for its oppressive rule and severe human rights violations, has been under the tight control of the Kim dynasty since its establishment in the 1940s by Kim Il-sung, succeeded later by Kim Jong-il.
Some North Koreans have managed to escape the authoritarian regime to seek refuge in South Korea, fleeing the pervasive cult of personality enforced by the ruling regime. Former elite bodyguards, Kang Jin and Kang Yoon-chu, who served under Kim Jong-un for 13 years, have now defected and run a YouTube channel.
In a video collaboration with DimpleVideo, the “NK Guys” reacted to a simulation of the US and Israeli strikes that targeted Iran’s former Supreme Leader. The ex-bodyguards expressed shock and concern after witnessing the precision of the military operation that eliminated Khamenei.
Discussing the implications for Kim Jong-un, they marveled at the advanced intelligence capabilities of the US and Israel and drew parallels between the secretive nature of the Iranian and North Korean regimes. They speculated on the potential chaos that could ensue if a similar strike were to occur in North Korea, highlighting the vulnerability of dictators in the face of modern warfare.
Reflecting on the overwhelming dominance of the US in military capabilities, Jin emphasized the need for Kim Jong-un to display more responsible behavior to avoid a similar fate. He pointed out the lack of safe havens for despots in the modern world, stressing the importance of strategic decisions in maintaining power and security.
