An individual formerly incarcerated alongside Ghislaine Maxwell for two years has spoken out about the disgraced socialite’s behavior behind bars. The ex-inmate, aged 47, who served time at the Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee on drug-related charges from November 2023 to November 2025, described Maxwell as unpleasant, skipping meal lines, infrequent in her hygiene practices, and demanding special treatment during religious services. Maxwell reportedly expressed anger towards fellow inmates watching a TV series about her and frequently clashed with prison staff over trivial matters.
Despite being labeled as “trash” by other prisoners due to her involvement in aiding Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking activities, Maxwell reportedly conducted a 12-week law class and assisted inmates with legal paperwork. However, she never mentioned Epstein or her connections to the Royal Family. The ex-inmate highlighted Maxwell’s sense of entitlement, noting that she filed numerous complaints – over 800 in a year – resulting in changes within the facility.
Maxwell’s disregard for queues during mealtimes and her infrequent showering habits became notorious within the prison community. Additionally, her attempts to control religious observances led to confrontations with prison staff, with Maxwell insisting on pouring her own ceremonial grape juice during Jewish services, ultimately leading to special accommodations being made for her.
Despite facing criticism and being ostracized by fellow inmates for her criminal history, Maxwell found solace in teaching basic law classes to other prisoners. Her small circle of friends included individuals with serious criminal backgrounds, as recounted by the ex-inmate.
Maxwell’s notoriety attracted significant outside attention, causing disruptions in the prison routine, including helicopter surveillance and public displays of disapproval towards her. Despite her claims of feeling unsafe in prison, the ex-inmate refuted such assertions, calling them false and exaggerated.
In August 2025, Maxwell was transferred to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Texas after being sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022 for sex trafficking.
