A former British Dreamboy is facing charges for allegedly killing his girlfriend in their residence in France. George Goodayle, aged 47, surrendered himself to authorities after reportedly shooting Jayne Gregory, aged 49, with a hunting rifle. French officials stated that he admitted to the shooting on Monday, claiming it was accidental.
Gregory was discovered deceased with two gunshot wounds at their residence in Brillac, Cherente, in the southwest of France. Law enforcement confiscated a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the incident. Goodayle was taken into police custody on suspicion of spousal murder.
A magistrate from the Angoulême public prosecutor’s office and a forensic doctor visited the crime scene. Goodayle appeared before a judge and was formally charged with spousal murder, leading to his detention pending trial.
The couple, both in their forties, had been in a relationship since June and had recently vacationed together in the Pyrenees in February. A friend of Jayne, originally from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, shared that she relocated to France in late 2020 or early 2021 to make a fresh start away from England.
Described as an animal lover, particularly fond of horses and dogs, Jayne was known for her fashionable attire and lavish lifestyle. She was remembered as a generous, outgoing individual who enjoyed hosting parties and embarking on luxurious vacations. According to acquaintances, she had moved to France seeking a new beginning.
Angoulême prosecutor Benoît Bernard disclosed that the British national confessed to the shooting incident to the authorities. Goodayle, who had been residing in Brillac since 2016, was reported to have no official occupation. He suggested to the police during questioning that the shooting may have been accidental.
In a social media post from March 2011, Goodayle identified himself as “gorgeous George” from the renowned male strip show, the Dreamboys. He had also shared updates about his performances in London’s West End and Manchester.
In October, Gregory had posted a heartfelt birthday message to Goodayle, acknowledging his past involvement with the Dreamboys. The couple seemed happy and in love in the shared image.
Brillac, situated in the picturesque region of Charente Limousine, is a quaint rural community surrounded by hamlets and farmlands, attracting outdoor enthusiasts for activities like hiking and cycling.
