A fire incident at a bustling airport hotel led to its evacuation. Firefighters were summoned to the Hampton by Hilton Hotel located at Stansted Airport just before 10.30 am. Upon arrival, the crews identified a fire on the hotel’s third floor, where numerous guest rooms are situated.
As a safety measure, the hotel was evacuated while firefighters diligently worked to extinguish the fire and secure the premises, as reported by Essex Live. Fortunately, all guests and staff were safely evacuated, and there were no reported injuries. The fire was successfully put out by 11.15 am, approximately 30 minutes after the firefighters reached the location, according to a spokesperson from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
Following the extinguishing of the fire, crews remained at the hotel to use high-pressure fans for smoke clearance and ventilation. An investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire has been initiated.
Station Manager Dan Byatt expressed, “We closely collaborated with Stansted Airport, Essex Police, and other relevant agencies to effectively manage the situation and ensure flight schedules were maintained. Thanks to the prompt response of the crews and our partners, the fire was swiftly controlled, and everyone’s safety was preserved.”
