The father of a seven-year-old girl who was swept out to sea in Morocco is seeking specialized assistance to locate her after the official search was terminated. Inaayah Makda, from Blackburn, Lancs, disappeared on January 28 while with her parents at a beach in Casablanca when they were hit by a large wave. Despite efforts hindered by adverse weather conditions, Moroccan authorities ceased the search at the end of February without finding any trace of the girl.
Zubair Makda, her father, shared on the Blackburn Muslim Group on Facebook that they are persisting in their own search for Inaayah but emphasized the need for expert support. He recounted the incident, stating how both he and his daughter were swept into the sea by a sudden powerful wave, with him managing to reach the shore safely. The family now seeks expertise in sea drift modeling to pinpoint potential search areas, as Moroccan authorities have not been successful in locating her.
The Makda family was on the first night of a week-long vacation when the tragic event occurred. Zubair and Tasneem Makda, Inaayah’s parents, expressed their devastation over the loss of their only child. They described Inaayah as a bright and gentle child, highlighting the ongoing anguish and disbelief surrounding her disappearance as the most challenging period of their lives.
