The purpose of Farage’s trip to the Maldives was to support Chagossians attempting to establish a settlement on a deserted island, aiming to reclaim their homeland. Despite not reaching the Chagos Islands due to restricted access, Farage’s actions drew attention to the plight of the Chagossians and the UK government’s decision regarding the territory.
Additionally, Farage’s recent visit to the US for a speaking engagement at an anti-climate think tank linked to Donald Trump garnered attention. Although his meeting with the president did not materialize, Farage received substantial compensation for his appearance.
