A violent man brutally attacked an elderly woman he met on a dating app. Seeking a romantic connection, the 85-year-old engaged with Vyacheslav Kulakov, 33, on a dating site. However, their in-person meeting turned tragic when Vyacheslav assaulted the woman during a dispute and fled the scene.
Though the woman managed to reach the hospital and report the assault, she later succumbed to her injuries. Vyacheslav, upon learning of her death during questioning, expressed remorse and admitted to his actions. He now faces charges of causing fatal bodily harm due to negligence, which could lead to a 15-year prison sentence.
This incident is not isolated, as other tragedies have occurred on first dates. One such case involved Mina El Houari, who died after a man she met online mistakenly buried her alive. The man claimed he thought Mina had died suddenly when she collapsed during their meeting. Consequently, he buried her alive in his garden, unaware that she was still breathing. Mina, who had undiagnosed diabetes, fell into a coma and suffocated in the shallow grave.
In a global context, reports from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and UN Women 2025 indicate that approximately 50,000 women and girls are killed by intimate partners or family members annually. This translates to an average of 137 female deaths daily due to such violence.
