Devastating Loss: Exmouth Family Mourns Parents’ Double Tragedy

A devastating double tragedy has left a family in Exmouth shattered as both parents, Gary and Heidi Veacock, passed away within days of each other. Gary, a former Royal Marine officer who recently retired, died unexpectedly on January 12 due to undiagnosed high blood pressure. Described as “larger than life” and filled with love and warmth, he was deeply cherished by his family and friends.

Following Gary’s passing, Heidi, a talented pastry chef, battled neuroendocrine cancer and carcinoid disease. Sadly, she passed away two weeks after her husband’s funeral. Their daughters, Amber and Mia, have been overwhelmed by the support and kindness shown to them during this difficult period.

An online fundraiser has been launched to assist Amber and Mia, raising £35,000 in support. The family has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and generosity during this challenging time. Both parents were highly regarded in their communities, with Gary being remembered by Topsham Town FC and Royal Free Charity for his impactful contributions and leadership.

The family is taking things one step at a time as they navigate this immense loss, with the memories of Gary and Heidi living on through their daughters. In lieu of flowers, donations to the fundraiser are welcomed to help the family cover expenses and create special moments in honor of their beloved parents.
