Police in the UK have closed off a popular beauty spot following the discovery of a deceased individual. The body, believed to be that of a man, was found near Marple Aqueduct in Stockport. Although the identity of the deceased has not been officially confirmed, authorities have notified the man’s next of kin.
Witnesses reported observing a police helicopter hovering above the aqueduct, which was cordoned off earlier in the day. Images show officers gathered in a tree-lined area next to several parked police vehicles at the scene.
According to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police, the authorities do not consider the incident to be suspicious. The Marple Aqueduct, constructed in the late 1700s to carry the lower section of the Peak Forest Canal over the River Goyt, is a Grade II listed structure known for its 16-lock flight, one of the steepest in the country.
