“Customer Frustration Escalates as Courier Company Goes Belly Up”

A disgruntled customer expressed frustration over missing packages that were unaccounted for over a week before a courier company went out of business. Carol Leonard encountered delivery delays that exposed issues with the struggling delivery service just prior to the company’s liquidation. Pedal and Post, a courier partner of Evri, ceased operations and entered liquidation in January. The Oxford-based cargo bike courier company, known for its eco-friendly operations, had expanded its services to London.

The dissatisfied customer, Carol from Oxford, reported that several parcels, including special food and litter for her cat, went missing after being ordered at the end of January. Despite being informed that the parcels were out for delivery, they were reportedly left at a depot instead. Carol experienced confusion when the firm claimed the parcels were both in transit and missing simultaneously.

Carol’s three deliveries, placed on January 29 and 31, took an extended period to arrive at her residence. The pet shop, which utilized Evri for deliveries, eventually refunded Carol for the undelivered items. Carol criticized the Evri system, mentioning the lack of a contact number for complaints. Evri later apologized to Carol and delivered the goods on February 10.

Reports emerged of delivery disruptions in the Oxford area coinciding with Pedal and Post’s collapse. Evri acknowledged the temporary disruptions resulting from Pedal and Post’s closure, with an Evri spokesperson expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to customers. The collapse of Pedal and Post led to the loss of 60 jobs, attributed to the departure of a significant client earlier in the year by the company’s CEO and founder, Christopher Benton.

Despite efforts to sustain the business, Pedal and Post could not continue operations. The company expressed gratitude to supporters, including clients, partners, staff, and the community. Evri addressed the disruption caused by the bike courier’s closure, stating efforts to resume normal service promptly in the affected area.
