Charlie Woods had a challenging time at the Junior Invitational, finishing at the bottom of the standings. This prestigious junior golf event, known as the ‘Junior Masters,’ saw Tiger Woods’ son struggle at Sage Valley, South Carolina.
Charlie ended up in last place, a significant 10 strokes behind the nearest competitor in a field of 36 players. After four tough rounds, the 17-year-old was 26-over-par, while Miles Russell retained his title with a score of 15-under.
The competition took a rough turn for Charlie after scoring three-over 75 in the first round and four-over 76 in the following day. His performance further deteriorated in the third and fourth rounds.
During the crucial rounds, Charlie managed only a high 11-over 83 on moving day and an 80 in his final round. Despite aiming to join the list of esteemed past winners like Scottie Scheffler and Joaquin Niemann, Charlie faced disappointment and will need to regroup for upcoming events.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods is preparing for a potential return to competitive golf after being sidelined by injuries in 2025. Having not played since the 2024 Open due to surgeries, Tiger is eyeing a comeback at this year’s Masters, starting on April 9 at Augusta.
Turning 50 recently, Tiger is eligible for the PGA Tour’s senior circuit and plans to participate when ready. While there were speculations about his return at the Masters, Tiger missed the registration deadline for the upcoming Cologuard Classic but could feature in the Hoag Classic on March 27, the only event available before the Masters.
Considering options, Tiger might also consider the Valspar Championship, Houston Open, and Texas Valero Open on the PGA Tour, possibly needing a sponsor’s exemption. Additionally, he could participate in the TGL play-offs next week with his team.
However, focusing on a senior event could be the ideal platform for Tiger to regain his form and competitive edge.
