“Call the Midwife Star Shines in The Other Bennet Sister on BBC One”

Fans of The Other Bennet Sister are starting to recognize the familiar face of the poetry-loving lawyer character. The period drama, now airing on BBC One, features Ella Bruccoleri from Call the Midwife as Mary Bennet, the overlooked sister from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

The series, which includes several well-known actors, follows Mary as she journeys to London after a family tragedy. One of the characters she encounters is Tom Hayward, a friend of the Gardiners, where Mary is staying while working as a governess. Dónal Finn, a 30-year-old Irish actor with a background in farming, portrays Mr. Hayward.

Finn, who graduated in acting from LAMDA, shared that he relates to Mary’s character, feeling constrained by societal expectations. Beyond The Other Bennet Sister, Finn has appeared in various roles, such as in The Witcher and SAS: Rogue Heroes. He was also recognized as a rising star in Ireland and has showcased his talent in theater productions like Hadestown.

In addition to his screen work, Finn recently lent his voice to a historical audio drama and is known for his singing abilities. Raised in a musical environment, Finn’s passion for music began in his childhood, where he observed family members singing during gatherings.

Fans can catch The Other Bennet Sister on BBC One on Sundays, with the series also available on BBC iPlayer for streaming.
