“British Woman in Saudi Arabia Needs Urgent Lung Transplant”

Laura Storr, a British woman facing a critical health crisis in Saudi Arabia, is in urgent need of a lung transplant. Unfortunately, she does not qualify for the necessary procedure in Saudi Arabia. The National Health Service (NHS) in the UK has approved her treatment, but she requires £110,000 to cover the expenses of a medical evacuation flight.

Her sister, Emily, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds for Laura’s medical repatriation. Emily expressed deep concern for Laura’s deteriorating condition, stating that she is too ill to travel on a commercial flight and needs specialized medical support during the evacuation.

Laura, who relocated to Saudi Arabia from Essex in 2020, suffers from pulmonary arterial hypertension, a severe lung condition leading to high blood pressure in the arteries. While her current medical costs are covered by work insurance, the evacuation expenses are not included.

Emily described Laura’s condition as worsening rapidly due to a rare form of her diagnosis that is particularly aggressive towards the lungs and heart. Laura’s oxygen levels are dangerously low, preventing her from flying home. Emily emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the need to bring Laura back before it’s too late.

Meanwhile, tensions in the region have escalated, with Iran threatening to target energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar in response to Israeli actions at the South Pars gas field.

To support Laura’s medical repatriation, donations can be made through her fundraiser.
