“British Airways Resumes Daily Flights to Melbourne in 2027”

British Airways has announced the relaunch of daily flights to a popular city for UK travelers, aligning with upcoming global sporting events. The airline is resuming services to Melbourne after a 20-year absence, with flights set to begin in January 2027.

The new flights will operate year-round from London Heathrow to Melbourne, via Kuala Lumpur, providing daily connectivity. Passengers will have a range of cabin classes to choose from, including First, World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and Club World (business class).

Return fares starting from £1,130, inclusive of taxes and carrier fees, are now available for booking. British Airways ceased operations to Melbourne Airport in 2006, relying on other carriers for the London-Melbourne route.

Lorie Argus, CEO of Melbourne Airport, expressed enthusiasm about British Airways’ return, highlighting Melbourne as Australia’s primary and well-connected 24-hour gateway. The move is part of a strategic expansion plan for BA’s network, adding Colombo, Sri Lanka, to the winter 2026 schedule.

With Melbourne Airport offering a vast choice of airlines, 24-hour operations, and efficient connections, it has become a preferred hub for travelers between Europe and Australia. The city’s appeal, as recognized by Time Out as the “best city in the world,” and its substantial British expat community, are expected to drive demand for the new route.
