British Airways Adds Flight for Stranded Britons

British Airways has arranged an additional flight for Britons seeking to depart the Middle East. A significant number of UK citizens have been stranded in the region due to the ongoing conflict with Iran, now in its sixth day. In response, British Airways will be operating an additional flight from Muscat, Oman, to London Heathrow.

The airline stated that flights from various other Middle Eastern locations such as Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, and Tel Aviv remain suspended. The newly scheduled flight from Oman to London Heathrow is set to depart at 2:30 local time (10:30 pm GMT) on March 8. This flight is specifically for British Airways customers in Oman or the UAE with existing bookings. Those interested in traveling on this flight are advised to contact the airline via their dedicated phone line or wait for direct communication from British Airways.

Notably, Qatar Airways has also announced plans to operate a limited number of relief flights to European cities, although most flights are still on hold due to the closure of Qatari airspace. Meanwhile, over 4,000 individuals have been evacuated to the UK from the Middle East, with more repatriation flights expected. The scale of support being provided is being compared to the efforts seen during the Covid pandemic.

Despite challenges, efforts are being made to facilitate repatriation flights, with one government-chartered flight from Oman facing delays. Government officials are emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the collaborative approach being taken with regional partners. The situation is being closely monitored, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of British nationals in the region.
