The late boxing icon Ricky Hatton’s wealth has been revealed following his untimely passing at 46 years old. The boxing community mourned the loss of the legendary athlete, who was found deceased at his residence in Manchester in September 2025.
In a statement delivered on behalf of his mother Carol during his recent inquest, she disclosed that she had seen her son just two days before his demise. She mentioned that Ricky had expressed intentions of a potential ring comeback and selling his house, but she observed a sense of melancholy in his eyes.
The esteemed World Boxing Champion, known for his immense heart and smile, had a remarkable career that inspired numerous aspiring boxers. Throughout his time in the ring, he amassed a fortune of £35 million, which has now been inherited by his family members.
His substantial wealth is expected to be passed down to his loved ones, including his three children: Campbell, aged 25, Millie, aged 13, and Fearne, aged 12, as reported by MailOnline.
Ricky, affectionately known as ‘The Hitman’, became a father at a young age of 22 when he welcomed Campbell after a brief reconciliation with his ex-girlfriend, Claire. At that juncture in his life, despite being a rising star, he reportedly established a trust fund for his son and arranged financial support for Claire to care for Campbell.
Campbell, inheriting his father’s boxing prowess, ventured into professional boxing in 2021. Following his debut, he secured his first knockout victory against Attila Csereklye and continued to make strides in the sport.
Although Campbell enjoyed an unbeaten streak in his initial 14 matches, he faced consecutive defeats to James Flint in 2024. Seeking to revive his career, he enlisted his father as his trainer in March, but shortly after, he announced his retirement from boxing to pursue a career in solar panel installation.
During a recent court appearance, Campbell described his father as a happy and laid-back individual, except when it came to sports. He highlighted Ricky’s fearless nature, generosity, and struggles with mental health, noting that before his passing, Ricky seemed to be in a better place mentally.
In 2018, Ricky became a grandfather to Campbell’s daughter Lyla, showcasing her training in a video shared on Instagram. Ricky also shares his two younger daughters, Millie and Fearne, with his former fiancée Jennifer Dooley, often posting photos with them.
Ricky’s substantial wealth primarily stemmed from his successful 15-year boxing career, where he achieved 45 wins out of 48 fights. Following his retirement in 2012, he remained active in the boxing community by establishing Hatton Promotions to support emerging talents and the Hatton Boxing Academy to train the next generation of fighters.
The Hatton family expressed profound grief over Ricky’s passing, describing him as more than a world champion but as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. They acknowledged the overwhelming support and love received from fans and well-wishers and requested privacy as they come to terms with their loss.
Details from the inquest revealed that Ricky’s cause of death was hanging, with evidence of prior cocaine use and cannabinoids in his system. Post mortem reports indicated alcohol intoxication at the time of his passing, exceeding the legal drink-drive limit.
His body was discovered by his longtime manager and friend, Paul Speak, in the morning, with signs of alcohol consumption. Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding his death, Ricky Hatton’s legacy as a boxing great and a beloved figure in the sport will continue to live on.
