“Beware: Surprising Items That Could Disrupt Your Carry-On”

If you’re traveling this Easter and aiming to fit all your essentials in a carry-on, be cautious about certain items that could cause issues without your awareness.

Typically, liquids in hand luggage must be limited to 100ml to pass through airport security, encompassing items like water bottles, face oils, moisturizers, and hand sanitizer.

Nevertheless, some non-liquid items can still trigger security concerns. Fulton Umbrellas compiled a list of surprising items that are either permissible or prohibited on your journey.

For instance, soft cheese falls under the 100ml limit when traveling from the EU to the UK. This restriction also applies to jams, chutneys, sauces, and liquid-based items such as antipasti or olives.

Certain countries impose stricter regulations on traveling with food, so it’s advisable to verify before packing.

Another item to avoid in your carry-on is protein powder. These powders can obstruct x-ray machines, necessitating manual inspection by security personnel. To save time and ensure a hassle-free experience, it’s best to leave protein powder at home or stow it in your checked baggage.

Interestingly, in the UK, you are allowed to bring a small pair of scissors in your carry-on luggage if you wish to engage in arts and crafts during the flight. The general rule in the UK permits scissors with a blade length less than 6cm.

For larger scissors, it’s recommended to pack them in your checked luggage. Different airlines may have varying policies regarding items with blades, so it’s prudent to confirm specific requirements for carrying scissors.

Remember to review airline regulations and security guidelines to ensure a smooth travel experience.
