Aldi has announced the schedule for temporary closures during the upcoming bank holiday. The supermarket chain has also identified the least busy times for customers to visit stores in England, Scotland, and Wales before the Easter weekend.
With Easter Sunday falling on April 5 this year, Brits will enjoy a long weekend from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6. Aldi stores will adjust their opening hours for the bank holidays, operating shorter hours than usual.
On Good Friday and Easter Saturday, Aldi stores will be open from 8am to 9pm. However, stores will be closed on Easter Sunday to allow employees to spend time with their families. The supermarket will resume operations on Easter Monday from 8am to 8pm. Customers are advised to check online for any variations in store hours over the weekend.
Rachel Geary, Aldi UK’s communications director, emphasized the importance of Easter as a time for celebrating with loved ones. Aldi aims to provide shoppers with great value and convenience so they can focus on enjoying quality time with family and friends.
As of early 2026, there are over 1,070 Aldi stores in the UK, with plans to expand to 1,500 locations in underserved areas. In England and Wales, stores must adhere to strict closure regulations outlined in the Sunday Trading Act, while rules differ in Scotland, allowing all stores to remain open on Easter Sunday.
Aldi suggests specific shopping hours for Easter groceries, noting quieter times in the early morning and close to closing time. Early morning shoppers can benefit from less crowded aisles and fresh stock, while late-night shoppers may find discounted items and help reduce food waste by shopping later.
