“Zero Financial App to Close, Users Urged to Transfer Funds”

Zero, a fintech banking app, has announced its closure, prompting thousands of customers to transfer their funds to other accounts. The discontinuation of the Zero Sustainable Money App will impact users with Zero Personal Accounts, Zero Debit Mastercards, or Planet Safe Savers.

According to MoneySavingExpert.com, Zero has 21,500 registered users, with only 7,500 actively using the app. All customers have received emails from Zero detailing the necessary steps to take. While the app is set to operate until March 31, there is a possibility of an earlier closure.

MSE advises users to withdraw their funds before the closure date to avoid any inconveniences. Funds left unclaimed will be held for six years, requiring users to contact zero@transactpay.com for retrieval. Savings account balances will be transferred to users’ Zero personal accounts, necessitating a subsequent transfer to another account.

Established in Cardiff in 2023, Zero launched to the public in January 2025. The company cited the inability to secure additional funding as the reason for its closure. The GreenScore feature, which analyzed spending habits to assess sustainability, aimed to help users understand their environmental impact.

Co-founder and CEO of Zero, Richard Theo, expressed the company’s vision of promoting sustainable financial practices. The goal was to merge digital banking with effortless sustainability to benefit the planet.
