A prominent technology firm specializing in AI-driven software is providing a £60,000 per year internship opportunity to recent school graduates.
Palantir Technologies is encouraging young individuals to bypass university debt by applying for its Meritocracy Fellowship. Successful candidates will engage in full-time work at the company’s London headquarters for a five-month period, earning a pro-rata salary of up to £60,000.
Following the internship, there is a possibility of transitioning into a permanent position at the company with a potential increase in salary, although this is not guaranteed.
As reported by The Sun, participants will focus on projects that safeguard Western values and support crucial institutions like the NHS to tackle their most significant challenges.
Palantir aims to attract individuals interested in pursuing computer science studies at the university level. To be eligible for the program, applicants must have completed their A-Levels or equivalent qualifications by the fellowship commencement in October 2026.
The internship is scheduled to run until February 2027.
Louis Mosley, the executive vice president and head of Palantir UK, emphasized the company’s commitment to recruiting top tech talent in Britain and providing eighteen-year-olds with the opportunity to enter the workforce directly after school. Mosley highlighted the value of hands-on learning at Palantir compared to potentially outdated academic knowledge acquired through university education along with accumulating substantial debt.
The announcement comes amidst increasing discontent surrounding the Plan 2 student loan scheme, where interest rates are linked to Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation plus a variable percentage based on graduate income.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves disclosed in the autumn budget that the salary threshold for loan repayments will remain fixed at £29,385 for the next three years starting from April.
While acknowledging the flaws in the student loan system, Reeves acknowledged that addressing the issue was not a top priority for the Government at the moment, though Labour aims to address and enhance the system in the future.
