“Trump Praises King Charles Ahead of US Visit”

Donald Trump has expressed admiration for King Charles once again and reassured that his strained relationship with PM Keir Starmer will not impact the monarch’s upcoming US state visit.

The US president has criticized the Prime Minister on various fronts, including his decisions regarding North Sea drilling and immigration policies, hinting at potential changes to the UK-US trade deal negotiated last year.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to embark on a four-day visit to the US from April 27 to 30, coinciding with the deteriorating transatlantic relations following Trump’s verbal attacks on the UK and other Nato allies. The visit, marking the King’s first US trip as monarch, will commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence with celebrations nationwide.

In a recent interview, Trump praised Charles as a “great gentleman,” emphasizing their longstanding acquaintance. Despite tensions with Sir Keir, Trump asserted that the royal visit would not be overshadowed by political differences.

During the visit, the royals are scheduled to attend various events, including a traditional American Block Party in Virginia, where locals will celebrate America’s 250th birthday. The itinerary also includes meetings with President Trump, a formal White House ceremony, and a Congress address by the King.

After their US visit, Queen Camilla will return to the UK while King Charles will travel to Bermuda from May 1-2 for his first official visit to a British Overseas Territory. The King’s schedule in Bermuda includes exploring a museum exhibition on the island’s history and engaging with representatives from the UK Space Agency on space sustainability initiatives.

Overall, the royal visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between the UK and the US while commemorating historical milestones and fostering cultural exchanges.
