British influencer Holly Hubert shares recovery journey after coma

British influencer Holly Hubert recently shared her recovery journey on Instagram following a life-threatening illness that led to her being put in a medically-induced coma several months ago. In December of last year, the 29-year-old fell critically ill and was quickly hospitalized due to brain swelling, where she was placed in a coma. Holly expressed how this health scare has significantly changed her outlook on life.

Taking to Instagram on March 22, Holly updated her followers, stating, “Hi … I’m alive [purple heart emoji]. So it turns out I’m not invincible. In December, I suddenly became critically ill, was rushed into hospital and placed into a coma. I experienced extreme brain swelling and it was uncertain if I’d wake up again, but I was lucky enough to have a badass doctor and my incredible family by my side 24/7 fighting for me.”

In December 2025, Holly’s family confirmed through an Instagram post that she needed time to recover before returning to social media following her hospitalization, with no specific diagnosis disclosed at the time.

Holly described her challenging journey in a post on March 22, mentioning, “When I woke up, I had to relearn to walk and use my hands again. It’s been the hardest and scariest thing that’s ever happened to me, and I’m so grateful to be here today.” She shared that she has been discharged from the hospital and is still gradually recuperating. Despite not posting daily yet, she conveyed her gratitude for the overwhelming support she received during her absence from social media.

Reflecting on her experience, Holly acknowledged how it has reshaped her perspective on life, emphasizing the value of cherishing loved ones and embracing the beauty of the world. Holly, who gained fame as an influencer in 2015 through Vine videos, has also ventured into music, releasing singles such as “Tokyo” in April 2025 and “I Should Run” in August 2025.

Holly’s inspirational story serves as a reminder of the preciousness of life and the importance of pursuing happiness.
