Jeremy Clarkson has admitted to struggling with a basic domestic skill as he discussed his challenges at home. The 65-year-old gained fame through his tenure on the BBC’s Top Gear.
Transitioning into the world of farming in recent years, Jeremy purchased a 1,000-acre property in Oxfordshire, formerly known as Curdle Hill Farm, now transformed into the popular Diddly Squat Farm. His farming journey is showcased in the Amazon Prime Video series, “Clarkson’s Farm.”
Despite adapting to many aspects of rural life, Jeremy reveals his difficulty with cooking. While not an expert in the kitchen, he decided to learn the fundamentals of cooking, taking advantage of the excellent ingredients available at his doorstep on the farm.
Attempting to cook a bechamel sauce, Jeremy’s first try was successful, but the second attempt turned out less than appetizing. Initially blaming the farm’s Aga, he later pondered if cooking might simply be a skill beyond his reach.
To test his culinary skills, Jeremy purchased a rib of beef from a local butcher and visited The Farmer’s Dog pub, which he opened in 2024, to cook in a professional kitchen using a high-end oven.
Following a successful beef dish, Jeremy humorously remarked that he only needed a foolproof oven. He has since managed to create dishes like pho with star anise, bruschetta, and pork with black pepper, but he still finds Chinese cuisine challenging.
Despite his cooking struggles, Jeremy has received positive news about his pub’s parking proposals, with the West Oxfordshire District Council granting temporary approval for additional parking space adjacent to the establishment. Historic England also commended Jeremy for his involvement in discussions about a nearby historical site.
The council statement expressed satisfaction with the progress made, particularly regarding parking arrangements for the pub.
