A cherished father of two has tragically passed away several weeks after being assaulted outside his residence, devastating his loving children and former wife.
Graham Hyslop, aged 55, was reportedly attacked and robbed of his bank card while in his wheelchair outside his home in Sandown, Isle of Wight, on February 19. Three teenagers, two aged 14 and one aged 15, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Following the assault, Graham received medical treatment for head and arm injuries, but he later succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by his ex-wife. His passing is currently under investigation and is not directly linked to the prior attack.
Hazel Hyslop, aged 60 and Graham’s former partner, described him as a compassionate individual. She highlighted their amicable relationship post-separation and shared details of the unfortunate attack that led to his death.
On the day of the assault, Graham had ventured outside to retrieve an item thrown onto his property when he was confronted by the alleged perpetrators who physically assaulted him and took his bank card.
Despite the trauma, Graham remained optimistic until his sudden death in his sleep on March 1. The family, including his children Chloe, 19, and Jack, 20, are devastated by the loss and are awaiting autopsy results.
To honor Graham’s memory, the family is seeking donations via a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses. Hazel emphasized the importance of a dignified farewell for Graham, allowing loved ones to bid him a proper goodbye.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has been contacted for further information on the case.
