Piers Morgan has expressed concerns about the vulnerability of the UK to potential missile attacks from Iran. This comes in the wake of warnings from Israel that major cities like London could be targeted by Iranian missiles. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have stated that Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities now pose a global threat, with missiles capable of reaching as far as London, Paris, or Berlin.
According to the IDF, Iran recently launched a long-range missile towards Diego Garcia, marking the first instance of such an attack with a range of approximately 4,000km. This distance surpasses Iran’s previous claims of a maximum range of 2,000 km, casting doubt on their earlier assertions.
Piers Morgan emphasized the lack of defense mechanisms in place against these potential missile threats, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. Foreign affairs analyst Nawaf Al-Thani also highlighted the extended reach of Iran’s missile capabilities, raising concerns about the vulnerability of cities like London and Paris.
Speculation suggests that Iran may have utilized intermediate range ballistic missiles or even space launch vehicles to enable missiles to reach Diego Garcia. The Ministry of Defence has condemned Iran’s actions as reckless, stating that such attacks pose a threat to British interests and allies. The UK has permitted the US to utilize British bases for specific defensive operations in response to these heightened tensions.
