“Non-league Football Match Delayed by Crowd Disturbances”

A non-league football match encountered a delay for around an hour due to reported crowd disturbances on Saturday. Yate Town FC and Weymouth FC’s game was halted just one minute after kick-off.

Both teams kept fans informed via social media. Yate Town FC posted at 3.26pm about a serious crowd incident leading to the suspension of the game. Weymouth FC followed with a statement at 3.38pm, citing a stadium incident causing a prolonged stoppage.

An update at 3.53pm confirmed the match would resume at 4pm with 44 minutes remaining in the first half following the ground incident.

Reports indicated a significant altercation between home and away supporters during the match. The Southern League game, held at Yate Town’s Lodge Road stadium, resumed at 4pm with Weymouth leading 0-1 from an early goal.

Weymouth extended their lead to 0-2 by half-time. Despite Yate Town receiving a yellow card in the 88th minute and three minutes of added time, Weymouth emerged victorious at the end of the match.
