The Royal Navy’s annual photography contest has showcased the extensive global operations of the fleet. Stunning photographs captured by navy photographers depict various scenes, such as Royal Marines conducting a night raid in the Arctic and a commando boat team speeding across Sydney Harbour at dusk.
According to the Royal Navy, the competition features the finest images and videos of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines engaged in operations both domestically and worldwide over the past year. The work of the Senior Service and the expertise of its dedicated team of full-time professional photographers are highlighted.
The awards, known as the Peregrines among sailors, recognize individuals who document the activities of sailors and Royal Marines, including training, ceremonial duties, international exercises, and frontline missions.
Petty Officer Alexandra ‘Alex’ Ceolin, based in Plymouth, has been named the top photographer of the Royal Navy for the past year due to her exceptional photography of the UK Commando Forces. She also accepted the prestigious Peregrine Trophy on behalf of the two-person team she leads, recognized as the best photographic unit in the Navy for their outstanding portfolio from the previous year.
Originally from Newcastle, Alex has served her country for 12 years, initially as a communications specialist on the frigate HMS Somerset before transitioning to a photographer role.
