“UK Weather: Sunny Start, Snow Showers Expected This Weekend”

This weekend, the Met Office forecasts snow in select UK regions. Despite sunny conditions on Saturday with temperatures reaching the mid-to-high teens in many areas due to high pressure, Manchester and Edinburgh may hit 16C and 15C respectively, while Bristol and London will experience highs of 15C and 14C. In contrast, southern European cities like Athens and Madrid are expected to have cooler temperatures of 12C and 13C on Saturday.

However, starting Sunday, a band of cloud and patchy rain will move southeast across the country, followed by sunny intervals and scattered showers in the north, potentially including snow showers. Met Office Chief Forecaster Steve Willington mentioned the possibility of colder spells and wintry showers in March despite the warm start to the period.

Heading into the following week, a shift to cooler northwesterly winds will bring a temperature drop and more unsettled weather conditions, with the chance of hill snow in the north and occasional brisk winds. This weather pattern is typical for this time of year.

According to the BBC Weather, Sunday will see cloudy and breezy conditions in the north, with light rain clearing and showers in the northwest later in the day. The south will have bright spells initially with low cloud and fog, becoming cloudier later.

Next week, an Atlantic pattern is expected to bring rain to northern and western areas on Monday and Tuesday, with potential snow in the Scottish mountains. Stronger winds are anticipated in the north, with possible coastal gales.

As Wednesday approaches, a cooler and more unstable north-to-northwesterly flow will lead to frequent showers, some heavy and wintry over higher ground, with the chance of snow at lower levels in the north later in the day. Temperatures are projected to be near or slightly below average.

Toward the week’s end, higher pressure will build from the west, reducing showers and easing winds. However, temperatures are likely to remain cool, with a possibility of overnight frost.
