Iran’s recent supreme leader released a statement to mark the commencement of the Persian New Year. Mojtaba Khamenei labeled the new year as focusing on a “resilient economy within the context of national unity and security” in his third message since assuming office. The 56-year-old has remained out of the public eye since being appointed as the successor to his father, Ali Khamenei, who died in an Israeli attack in Tehran on February 28. Iranian authorities stated that Mojtaba sustained minor injuries to his face and foot during the attack, while the US and Israel claim his injuries are severe.
In his statement, the supreme leader also accused Iran’s “Zionist enemy” of orchestrating false flag operations against Turkey and Oman to implicate Iran. Although Iranian state media reports that Khamenei is the speaker in the statement, it has not been officially confirmed that the voice in the broadcast belongs to him.
