“UK Braces for Second Winter Wave: Nationwide Snow Forecasted”

Britons are preparing for a second round of winter, with new snow forecasts indicating widespread snowfall across the country next week. Sophisticated weather models suggest that snow may impact several major cities such as Glasgow, Blackpool, Manchester, and Birmingham.

Although many regions have been enjoying sunny weather recently, the Met Office reported the hottest day of the year on Wednesday. However, weather predictions now indicate a potential drop in temperatures with wintry showers possible by the end of March.

According to the GFS weather model, snowfall is expected in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England on March 27, subsequently moving southwards to affect major cities, potentially including London. By midday, snow is forecasted to fall in Wales, the northwest, the Midlands, East Anglia, and parts of the southeast, with cities like London, Birmingham, Norwich, Nottingham, and Manchester likely to experience snowfall.

Temperatures in some areas could plummet to as low as -6°C, with Glasgow and Newcastle expecting temperatures around -3°C. Snow depth projections suggest that western Scotland could see up to 18cms of snow, while areas like Stoke, Swansea, and even Southampton might also witness snowy conditions.

BBC Weather indicates the possibility of cold spells towards the end of the month. The forecast from March 23 to 29 suggests a transition to wet and windy weather initially, followed by a brighter but chillier period with potential wintry showers over higher ground. The latter part of the week may bring drier conditions, with a chance of light rain from weak frontal systems.

As the weather pattern may evolve, slight changes could impact the overall outlook. If high pressure shifts westward, there is a risk of prolonged cold and unsettled weather in the latter part of the week.
