“Teacher Banned for Inappropriate Conduct at Primary School”

A teacher at a primary school who sent sexually explicit messages, voice recordings, and photos while children were present on school premises has been prohibited from teaching. Ben Walker, who started working at Edisford Primary School in Clitheroe in September 2016, resigned in November 2023 after confessing to sending inappropriate content to a woman on July 13, 2022.

Following a decision by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) panel, Mr. Walker is now banned from seeking future teaching positions for a minimum of two years. The panel’s ruling was based on evidence that Mr. Walker had engaged in inappropriate communication and behavior, including sending sexually suggestive messages and images to an adult not associated with the school.

The panel concluded that the photographs, some of which showed Mr. Walker shirtless and in compromising positions, were taken within the school premises, particularly in the male staff toilets. While there was no evidence that children directly witnessed or heard the inappropriate activities, the panel expressed concerns about the risks posed by Mr. Walker’s actions in proximity to children.

The prohibition order means that Mr. Walker is permanently barred from teaching in any educational institution in England, including schools, sixth form colleges, youth accommodations, or children’s homes. He may be eligible to request a review of the prohibition order starting from March 2028.
